By raising you off the ground, tipi platforms and decks provide additional comfort.
Squared-off, pie-shaped sections function well. Platforms should be manageable enough to lift and clean squirrel and hornet nests from underneath. Platforms should be made in transportable, manageable sections.
Platforms must be stable, properly blocked, and have sufficient decking strength. They must provide adequate fire pit space. Platforms must fit the tipi properly (the diameter should be about 1 foot less than the diameter of the tipi.)
The platform site should be cleared and levelled and may be spread with gravel before the platform is put in place. The space between slats should be narrow, to prevent tripping, and to allow for a consistent surface. Decking can be slats rather than plywood, to provide drainage, and allow for flying sparks to be extinguished. In areas with steep ground a deck can be utilized. Snow loads and drainage must be considered.
Furniture Platforms provide individual comfort. They are sized for a single mattress. Although this Furniture Platform is seen atop a regular platform they are more commonly used on a gravel pad. Two may be pushed together to form a double mattress sized sleeping area.
